Their aim is to educate young people from every background about the Holocaust and the important lessons to be learned for today and is bringing together testimony from people who sought sanctuary in Scotland to escape the racism of Nazi-dominated Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Thompson said,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201c<em>The 27<sup>th<\/sup> of January was the day for everyone to remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>\u201cTherefore, I was glad to sign <\/em><em>the Book of Commitment in the Scottish Parliament to raise awareness of this and hopefully help enable a future where this sort of suffering never occurs again<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Friday 29th January 2016<\/h4>\n<h3>DUGDALE\u00a0MUST URGENTLY CLARIFY FISCAL FRAMEWORK POSITION<\/h3>\n<h3>LABOUR MSP REFUSES TO BACK \u201cBEST\u201d OPTION FOR SCOTTISH BUDGET<\/h3>\n<p>The SNP has today called on Kezia Dugdale to urgently clarify her party\u2019s position on the Fiscal Framework as her MSPs on the Finance Committee refused to back a method of calculating the Scottish block grant that would protect Scotland\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1187\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1187\" style=\"width: 170px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scotsindependent.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MarkMcDonaldMSP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1187\" src=\"https:\/\/scotsindependent.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MarkMcDonaldMSP.jpg\" alt=\"Mark McDonald MSP\" width=\"170\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scotsindependent.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MarkMcDonaldMSP.jpg 170w, https:\/\/scotsindependent.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MarkMcDonaldMSP-127x150.jpg 127w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 170px) 100vw, 170px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1187\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mark McDonald MSP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the Finance Committee\u2019s report on the Fiscal Framework, published today, Labour MSP Lesley Brennan refused to back a conclusion calling for the Scottish block grant to be adjusted by the \u2018per capita indexation\u2019 method. Independent experts say this method would ensure Scotland\u2019s budget is not cut disproportionately as a result of the Scottish population growing at a lower rate than the UK population.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting, SNP MSP Mark McDonald said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cIt is astonishing that given the choice Labour MSPs preferred to join the Tories in voting against protecting Scotland\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cIn voting against the per-capita indexation method for calculating the block grant, Labour\u2019s member on the Finance Committee has put herself at odds with her colleagues on the Devolution Committee who concede that this is the \u2018best\u2019 option for Scotland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cKezia Dugdale must urgently clarify her position on the Fiscal Framework \u2013 will she back the best deal for Scotland or will she back the Tory Treasury?\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>January 29 2016<\/h4>\n<h3>FRESH BLOW TO CAMERON OVER CCS SCRAPPAGE COSTS<\/h3>\n<p>BILL DOUBLES ON UK CLIMATE TARGETS AFTER TORY ENERGY BETRAYAL<\/p>\n<p>The UK government\u2019s mismanagement of the Scottish and UK-wide energy sector has been exposed this week in a letter to Tory energy secretary Amber Rudd from the independent Committee on Climate Change (CCC), the statutory body providing evidence-based advice to government.<\/p>\n<p>In their damning letter, the CCC has issued a stern warning to the UK government that the cost of meeting their global obligations on carbon reduction \u2013 as agreed in Paris in December 2015 \u2013 will double without carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.<\/p>\n<p>The Tory government betrayed a manifesto pledge in November last year in pulling the plug on \u00a31 billion of funding for a pioneering CCS scheme at Peterhead, which would have created 600 jobs in the local economy and helped Scotland become a global leader in clean energy technology.<\/p>\n<p>David Cameron faces fresh criticism for his role in swindling the economy of the North East of Scotland out of vital investment in clean energy.
